It is our mission to grow healthy nutrient dense food and for us that means no synthetic pesticides, herbicides and fungicides! Instead, soil balancing and soil re-minerilization are the tools we use. By adopting the use of cover crops, inoculating the soil with beneficial microbes and composting we are able to help create a healthy ecosystem.
Gnomestead Hollow Farm and Forage: Gnomestead Hollow Farm and Forage is a small family farm located on the Blue Ridge Plateau. Jenna and Matthew are avid farmers, fermenters and certified foragers, bringing their knowledge, experience and passion for food from the PNW to the NRV! By employing the help of our region’s resident microbial communities, we are able to turn the bounty of locally-produced vegetables and agricultural byproducts into delicious variations of traditional veggie ferments, and into delicious mushrooms, through the magical process of fermentation alchemy. We are committed to growing food using ethical and biological growing practices, producing and bringing you the highest quality, most delicious, nutrient-dense vegetable ferments and farmed and foraged gourmet mushrooms in the New River Valley and surrounding areas. Please stop by the Farmer’s Market and come see us!
